Google Health links to Medicom Digital Program

On May 19, 2008, Google made the much anticipated announcement of the Google Health site. The American Heart Association’s Heart Attack Risk Calculator developed by Medicom Digital is one of the links available from the Google Health site. This calculator was demonstrated by Google as part of its site announcement press conference, because the Heart Attack Risk Calculator is one of the first two-way online data transfers implemented by a service using Google Health. The secure transfer of data through the click of a button makes the Heart Attack Risk Calculator easier to use, and is an excellent way of encouraging consumers to understand one of their most important health risks.

AAAAI Announces ASTHMA IQ in Press Conference at Annual Meeting

In a press conference at the AAAAI annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Thomas Casale, President of the AAAAI, announced the launch of the ASTHMA IQ program developed for the Academy by Medicom Digital. ASTHMA IQ is an evidence-based online system for improving the way clinicians care for asthma patients. It is based on the recommendations by the Expert Panel Report 3 (EPR-3) for managing and treating asthma released in August 2007 by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. In making his announcement, Dr. Casale indicated that ASTHMA IQ would be available free of charge to any physician treating asthma patients. Dr. Jean Bousquet of the World Health Organization indicated that ASTHMA IQ would be helpful to doctors internationally and that the WHO-sponsored Global Alliance against Respiratory Disease (GARD) would be linking to the ASTHMA IQ program from its website.

AAAAI Awards Contract to Medicom Digital to Develop Software to Improve Quality of Asthma Care

The American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) has contracted with Medicom Digital to develop a decision support system to assist clinicians in the treatment and management of asthma patients. The software program, called ASTHMA IQ, will be based on the upcoming revised National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) guidelines. ASTHMA IQ will help clinicians implement the new guidelines in their everyday practices and demonstrate improvement in the quality of asthma care. Anticipated roll-out date of ASTHMA IQ is six months after the release of the NAEPP asthma guidelines.
