In a press conference at the AAAAI annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Thomas Casale, President of the AAAAI, announced the launch of the ASTHMA IQ program developed for the Academy by Medicom Digital. ASTHMA IQ is an evidence-based online system for improving the way clinicians care for asthma patients. It is based on the recommendations by the Expert Panel Report 3 (EPR-3) for managing and treating asthma released in August 2007 by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. In making his announcement, Dr. Casale indicated that ASTHMA IQ would be available free of charge to any physician treating asthma patients. Dr. Jean Bousquet of the World Health Organization indicated that ASTHMA IQ would be helpful to doctors internationally and that the WHO-sponsored Global Alliance against Respiratory Disease (GARD) would be linking to the ASTHMA IQ program from its website.
